Swale News

This week's news from Swale"
It’s been another busy week in Swale! In Maths, we’ve been solidifying our understanding of converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, and we’re getting really good at it! We used link cubes to visualise the number of parts and determine the denominator. We’ve also been learning some new Times Tables songs to help us remember our multiplication facts more easily.
In English, we have been writing letters of complaint from a range of different everyday items and thinking of convincing arguments for how they are being misused. We have been able to apply our persuasive writing skills.
In Learning Means the World, we’ve started a unit on the Anglo-Saxons. We revisited our previous learning about the Vikings and considered where the Anglo-Saxons fit in the historical timeline. In Art, we’ve been examining the figures in the Bayeux Tapestry and practising sketching figures with accurate proportions.
In Guided Reading, we’ve begun exploring a new book titled The Hodgeheg. We’ve been using our reading skills to analyse the title and discuss why the book might be named that.
