Wakeman Blog

Another busy week in Wakeman!

We had an absolutely amazing time on Wednesday at the Sporting Influence Dance Festival! The children danced their socks off, and made the teachers very proud! It was a great experience to perform in front of other schools!

In Maths this week, we have started learning about length and height. The children explored a ruler, and how you can measure objects in cm, and then we explored a metre ruler, and how this is a more efficient way of measuring bigger objects. They then explored the classroom, and measured objects to the nearest metre. As a team they decided that they wanted to see how long the entire length of the classroom was. They worked together and found out it was 8m and 65cm!

In LMTW we have been looking at the life of Sir Ranulph Fiennes. We found out that he was awarded a Sultan's Bravery Medal by Queen Elizabeth in 1971 for his bravery and courage when fighting in the war.

In English, we have been learning some new grammar points. We have revisited using possessive apostrophes, and we have explored using apostrophes for contractions. We cannot wait to start using these in our writing!
