Ribble's Class Blog

What have we been up to this week?
What a wonderful week we have been having in Ribble. The sun is out and we are very happy to be continuing our learning inside and outside!
We have been learning lots of new skills in our new topic of Statistics in Maths. We have looked at reading line graphs, interpreting line graphs as well as reading and interpreting two-way tables. Daisy said that 'She has been trying really hard and is enjoying the new topic!' We all agreed that it is a very important life skill that we are learning and we are impressed with our progress.
We have made fabulous progress in our Learning Means The World topic of 'Pharaoh's Queen!'. We explored Hapshepsut in more detail by looking at her role as a Pharaoh and how she used powerdressing to help her as a ruler. We have also looked at hieroglyphs and tried to copy some to create our sentences to decode. Davids produced some very accurate symbols and Lennon wowed Miss Grayson with his speed when drawing.
In English, we have been continuing our journey with Varjak Paw. We love the adventures he is taking us on and we particularly enjoyed creating a tension graph which allowed us to think deeply about the purpose of the text. We have also focused on the impression of the city that Varjak has entered and we have created some wonderful sentences to show this atmosphere.
In RE, we have continued to look at Judaism and have been looking in more detail at the wonderful artifacts that we have in school. Oliver was intrigued by the symbols on these pieces, and we created interesting questions in our books during this session.
