Laver Blog Post

What a brilliant week in Laver. There is lots of brilliant learning and progress happening in our classroom at the moment.

In English, we have begun a new story titled 'I Love Bugs' by Emma Dodd. We read this story and spotted vocabulary that we liked and spotted patterns in the story. Vishruth said 'on every page it says bugs', Edie told us that 'every sentence starts with I love...' and Hollie-May said her favourite word was 'flouncy'. We had to use a dictionary to find out the meaning.

In Maths, we have been exploring half. We have been identifying, finding, demonstrating and exploring half of shapes and quantities. Elenoa worked super hard to show the class how you need to make 2 equal parts to then find a half.

This week we have been practising this rhyme to help us in our learning... 'two equal parts, we've split it in half.'

In Learning Means the World, we have continued to learn about the Arctic Circle. This week, we have been exploring Inuit people, what they eat, wear and where they live. We sorted images to demonstrate their diet, Edie said 'they won't eat zebras because that's the wrong habitat'. Fab knowledge Edie!

We had a wonderful visit for Open the Book on Tuesday who told us the story of how Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was resurrected at Easter. Miss Lee was WOWed by Laver's knowledge of the Easter story when they were asked to recap it in assembly. Well done everyone!
