Wakeman Class Blog
What a wonderful week in Wakeman!
We have done lots of lovely exciting things this week!
On Tuesday, we had a trip to the library. Whilst we were there, we took part in some poetry activities and explored books. Some of us even got new library cards! We then got to borrow a book to take home to share with our grown-ups. These books need to be returned to Ripon library in 3 weeks' time (the date is on the receipt in the front of your books!). The Librarian Harriet also told us all about the Summer Reading Challenge, which lots of us can't wait to take part in!
On Wednesday afternoon, we walked down to the Junior to see the Year 5s who introduced us to TT Rock Stars! We had such a lovely afternoon collaborating together. We even showed off our rolling number skills to the Year 5s. They were very impressed!
And the final exciting visit we had this week was from Ripon Walled Gardens. Some members of their team came into school to present us with our donation cheque. Last half-term, the children completed a Gobal Reach Challenge (just like Sir Ranulph Fiennes) and raised money for Ripon Walled Gardens. Altogether, the children in Year 2 raised..... £1420!!!! We are incredibly proud of all the children and the effort they put into the challenge. It was lovely to hear from the Walled Gardens about what the money would be going towards!
