Snowy greetings from Swale

"Best week ever!" has been one description as the snow has certainly made school look and feel a bit different!

We have been very excited to start our new English unit, which is all about Paddington Bear. We have been describing him and reading the story of "Paddington and the marmalade maze". Joshua is looking forward to reading more about Paddington's disasters and creating his own story!

We launched our Learning Means the World Topic with an immersive Viking afternoon where we saw images of Viking longboats and explored runes (alphabet), maps of their voyages and considered why they might have travelled so far, and we held a 'Thing' which is a Viking council. We were able to link this to our last topic on Law and Order and consider how Vikings used democracy. Lily said she is excited to learn about the Vikings, but there are lots of things about Vikings that puzzle her!

In Maths, we have been using informal written methods to support us with multiplication. This included number lines, place value charts and partitioning numbers. Daisy said maths is tricky at times, but we are working through it together!

Swale have had a super first week back!
