Swale News

We've had a fantastic and busy week in Year 4, packed with exciting learning experiences across the curriculum!

Science – Working Scientifically
As part of our Learning Means the World theme, we’ve been exploring light and shadows. The children have been learning how to create a fair test and have enjoyed investigating how shadows change depending on the position of the light source. Lots of great scientific thinking in action!

English
We’ve started a brilliant new book, The Dictionary of Difficult Words, and it's been inspiring us to stretch our vocabulary. The children have loved learning some truly challenging new words — our favourite so far is juxtaposition! Ask your child if they can explain what it means!

PE
In PE, we’ve been developing our cricket fielding skills — throwing, catching, and working as a team. Everyone is showing great progress and we're now starting to play some fun games to put those skills into practice.

RE – Places of Worship
This week, we’ve been comparing different places of worship, and we had a wonderful visit to Holy Trinity Church. The children were fascinated to learn about the history of the church, the significance of stained-glass windows, and how Christian churches can vary. We also explored why the Gospels are so important to the people who worship there.
