Skell Class Blog

We have had a very busy week in Skell class!

In English we continued to read the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We received a letter from Goldilocks asking for help to make porridge. We made porridge in the classroom and thought of and wrote some instructions to help Goldilocks.

We have started to read a new book called Lost and Found. We have thought about why the penguin in the story was lost and how we could help him. We made lost penguin posters and thought about what we would need on an adventure to the South Pole.

In Maths we have been working with the numbers 9 and 10. We can find doubles of numbers to 5 and have found odd and even numbers.

We have just started to look at 3D shapes and can identify cubes, spheres, cones, cuboids, and cylinders.

In Phonics we have focussed on the sounds oi, er, we have or, ur, air, oo, ow and ur and continued to write longer words. Our tricky words this week were; they, all, by, my, are, sure, pure.

In Learning Means the World we have planted cress seeds. We could all talk about what a plant needs to help it grow - sunlight, water and usually soil. We are looking after our seeds and watering them every day.

We have thought about what animals live in the forest and have built homes for them in the construction area. We painted beautiful sunflower pictures and tried hard to look closely at what we could see before painting.

In RE we have looked at the Easter story and have made Easter Gardens showing Jesus’ cross, the tomb and the boulder used to cover the entrance. We used natural resources such as leaves, grass and stones.
