Skell Class Blog

This week has been very busy!

This week in Skell Class, we have done taken part in lots of activities.

We joined in with our school pancake races on Shrove Tuesday. We all did really well and had lots of fun. On Thursday we enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day. We heard different adults read their favourite books, and we got to share our favourite books. We created some lovely work for our class door display. On Friday we are taking part in the  school football challenge!

In Phonics, we have been reviewing double-letter digraphs (tt, ff, ll, zz, ss). We have also been reading and writing longer words and have been using our chunking up method to help us.

In English, we continued with Tadpoles and Frogs. We further explored the life cycle of frogs and spent time looking at different non-fiction books.

In Maths, we have been looking at the numbers 6 and 8. We have become experts at explaining how we know numbers are bigger. We have also been looking at time. We did lots of activities and timed how long they took. Isaac C put a coat on and zipped it up in 20 seconds.

In LMTW, we have started our new topic, Down to the Woods. We have explored what a wood is. Amelia M told the class, 'A wood is some trees all together, like a forest but smaller.' We also looked at what in our classroom is made of wood. We noticed that wood can be made into lots of things. We looked at toys in the past. Lots of them were made of wood compared to the plastic toys we have today.
