Hornblower Class Blog

Our Weekly News
Thank you for the fantastic turnout for our Teddy Bear's picnic. The clues spelt out 'PERU', which led us to learn about one of its most famous exports: Paddington! This week, the class has learnt more about Peru as part of our new Learning Means the World topic.
In maths, we've begun to look at multiplication and division. We have explored how multiplication shows repeated addition. For example, 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8 can be expressed as 4 x 2 = 8. We've used the language of 'lots of', 'groups of', and 'times' to explore the meaning of the multiplication symbol.
Our new book is The Boy Who Cried Ninja by Alex Latimer. We began by exploring The Boy Who Cried Wolf before comparing the two stories. The class is sure the 'Ninja' version is much funnier!
Finally, some of our class represented Hornblower at Young Voices on Tuesday, singing alongside thousands of others. The class is very proud of them. We heard it was absolutely amazing, and I was very impressed that everybody managed to stay awake in school on Wednesday!
