Pancake Racing and World Book Day!
Gosh, what a busy week! After taking part in some Year 2 pancakes races on our playground, the class were excellent on our Tuesday morning visit to Ripon Cathedral. We learnt all about Shrove Tuesday from Canon Matthew, and followed this with some highly enthusiastic cheering for the contestants in the races. The largest cheers of all were for our fantastic Worship Warriors, Freddy and Emily, who had a wonderful time racing down the cobbles. Equally as exciting was our class viewing of the coverage of the races on BBC Look North on Wednesday, when we were very excited to do some class celebrity spotting!
World Book Day saw some brilliant outfits from the class, where we all enjoyed the whole school read aloud and door dressing! We have some extremely enthusiastic readers in the class, and it's been great to be able to showcase this.
PE has continued to be a highlight, with the class spending their final week preparing for the school dance competition next Wednesday morning. Many superheroes, knights, and ferocious dragons are ready to strut their stuff!
Finally, in contrast to these wonderful experiences, much of the 'normal' lesson time has been dedicated to completing maths and English assessments. They've learnt to take a really 'grown-up' approach to these, and should all be extremely proud of how much effort they've put in! Well done Hornblower class!
