Aire Class Blog!

Welcome to our Aire Class blog!
This week we have been learning about and celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day. We have listened to and watched veterans talk about their experiences and reflected on how people felt when the announcement of the end of WWII came through their radios. We had a street party picnic for lunch on Thursday. Aryan said he enjoyed the food and Ben liked getting a Union Jack flag to wave. Marcel liked the bunting and banners.
We are now beginning to write our version of the story Flotsam, which we have been looking at this term. Story planning and grammar work were our focus in the build up to this final piece of writing. Noah has found English very enjoyable and is looking forward to writing his finished story. Zara enjoyed using pictures to help her write descriptions.
In Maths, we have been continuing with our learning around decimals. Liam says he has found hundredths hard as he has never done them as decimals but is pushing himself to learn and understand them. Bella says at first, she thought it was weird how hundredths were smaller than the tenths.
In our Science topic we have begun to learn about the properties of sound and how sound travels. This week we conducted an experiment utilising a variable. In this case, string length. Harriet explains that we were testing the string length of yogurt pot telephones. She found the shorter the string the louder the sound inside the pot. Eddie thought it was amazing as he didn’t expect the telephones made of string and cups to work.
