Ribble's Class Blog

Welcome back to our weekly blog - we have been doing lots of fun topics!
In English, we read new chapters of Varjak Paw and Freddie said "I was nearly falling of my seat in the last chapters because of the tension that was being created." We have been building up our skills to create descriptive paragraphs containing expanded noun phrases, prepositional phrases and fronted adverbials.
In RE, we have been learning more about Judaism. We focused on the 10 commandments as well as the story of Moses and how the Jewish religion began. Daisy explained that she thought it was interesting because she learnt a lot of new information.
Our new topic in Learning Means the World is 'Global Warning' and this week we have been looking at the definitions of new vocabulary related to the topic. We also started the topic by writing our own definition of pollution and then listed pollutants that we could identify in an image.
In maths, we have been looking at shape. We have specifically focused on degrees of different turns and classifying angles. For example, right angle, straight line, acute, obtuse and reflex. Amelia said that she has been enjoying it because it is a very different topic to the ones that we have been doing recently.
On Thursday this week, Ribble were lucky enough to bring in some board games. Although this was very fun, there was an educational link! While playing the board games, we were evaluating the pros and cons of them so that we can use this knowledge to help us design our own. Tune in again next week to see our progress as some of us already have some amazing creative ideas.
In Guided Reading, the book we have been reading is 'Journey to the River Sea' and we have been enjoying seeing the plot unfold.
