Friends of Holy Trinity Infant School
At Holy Trinity Infant School there is a flourishing ‘Friends Group’, to which all parents, grand parents, carers and friends automatically belong.
As this is an Infant school, the children are only with us for a maximum of four years, so the membership of the committee frequently changes. However The Friends always seem to have energetic and committed people willing to step forward.
They organise discos for the pupils, hold cake sales on the first Monday of every month, sell ice-lollies after school during the summer term, arrange and pay for the Year 2 leavers’ party, and for Mother’s Day plants for each pupil to take home to their mum, not forgetting the Christmas Hamper & Easter Egg raffles. Every now and again they get together for a social evening too!
The money raised from the various events funds many resources throughout the school, such as ‘wow books’ in the classroom, playground equipment, coaches for school trips and supporting the Family Breakfast Club at Holy Trinity Church.
Their support encompasses much more than fund raising and we believe that the partnership between school and home - which is central to our philosophy - shines through in The Friends.
Becoming an active Friend
The Friends are all busy parents and carers, who work full-time, part-time and look after young children. They completely understand how precious your time is and the fact that you may not be able to devote as much of that time to supporting the various activities as you would like. They are always most grateful for any contributions you can make, whether it is making cakes for the monthly cake stall, being on-hand to offer support at one of the discos, taking on a larger role in organising events or taking the creative lead at bringing some new ideas to the Group. All are most welcome.
The Friends hold an evening meeting each new school year in the hall to discuss plans and events for the coming year. Following that, most communication is done via e-mail as it is not always possible to get busy parents and carers together at the same time to discuss plans. If you are interested in taking an active role please visit the school office giving your name and e-mail, you will be warmly welcomed.
You can follow the Friends’ updates on Facebook at ‘Friends of Holy Trinity Infant School’ and can message them directly.
