Nidd News

What has been happening in Nidd this week?
Learning Means the World was very interesting this week as we were learning all about the Maya civilisation. Morris told us that it was his favourite lesson this week because "They were very clever and they created the number zero." Scarlet G said "I liked how they made such awesome buildings. They were more interesting than modern buildings." Jay found it really interesting to learn about the Maya class system from the commoners to the king!
Maths has been challenging this week as we continue to use our knowledge of fractions to solve 'real life' word problems. Sienna said "It was tricky but when we learned the steps, it got easier" Scarlett-Anne said "I found it really hard but I tried and tried until I got it right." In Nidd class, we know that mistakes happen when we are learning something new and that it is an important part of our learning.
In Spanish we started to learn the months of the year (or 'los menses del ano'). As always, we leaned a catchy song to help us so ask the children to sing it for you! Listen here
We all enjoyed celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a picnic lunch, complete with Union flags. A huge 'well done' to our choir members who entertained the people of Ripon, in the marketplace and at Lister House, with their super singing!
