Swale News

It’s been a busy and exciting week in Swale, filled with lots of learning.
In English, we began our poetry unit and started using Poetry Pie, which has inspired us to play with words, rhythm, and rhyme. We’re enjoying exploring different performance styles and thinking about how poetry can express feelings and ideas. Levi has really enjoyed listening to poems that can make you laugh.
In Maths, we’ve continued working with decimals and focused particularly on dividing whole numbers by one hundred. It’s helped us deepen our understanding of place value and how numbers can be broken down. Lily said she is proud of her acievements in her learning in maths this term!
Our Learning Means the World topic has taken us to Scotland, where we’ve been learning about its physical and human features. From the rugged Highlands to the bustling cities, we've enjoyed discovering more about the geographical features in Scotland. Ted said he is really enjoying learning about the physical features in Scotland.
In Music, we’ve been using jazz to help us learn about major and minor chords. It's been fun hearing how different chords can change the mood of a piece and trying out some jazz sounds ourselves. Sophie enjoyed composing her own music using a range of chords.
PE has been all about tennis, where we’ve been developing our backhand skills. We’re getting more confident with our swings and learning how to control the ball more effectively.
Finally, in RE, we’ve continued our learning about Sikhism, focusing on the Ten Gurus and the Guru Granth Sahib, the eleventh and eternal Guru. It’s given us a deeper appreciation of Sikh beliefs and the importance of these teachings.
