Aire Class Blog
Welcome to Aire class blog!
This week has been a very exciting week in Aire class and the school. Wednesday was National Numeracy Day, and we dressed up in a number of themed outfits. In the morning, we were engaged in a number of different numeracy tasks along with a live nationwide assembly, which was really exciting because we were thinking about a budget and planning a picnic. We voted for the options we thought were the best, along with the rest of the schools around the country.
This week we have focussed a lot on our Brazil topic and were really lucky to welcome Julyanna Metcalfe from Bethal Church to come and talk to Year 4 about Brazilian culture. Jess really enjoyed her talk especially when she was talking about the animals native to Brazil. Georgie liked learning about the different food they eat and was amazed by the huge variety of bananas they have. Anni was really interested to hear about the different recipes. We weren't so keen on learning about spiders, the size of dinner plates though!
We have been making Carnival masks and learning Samba drumming and dancing. We had our own carnival procession and danced out on the field. Brooke enjoyed making the carnival masks and liked being creative. Bronte liked making masks with glitter and feathers however she wanted. Olivia liked learning Samba drum patterns and leading her small group as we put different rhythms together.
As part of poetry learning we have started to look at Limericks and the rules / patterns they use to form rhyme, rhythm and comedy. Archie likes learning about limericks because they are like poems which he likes. Harriet says she didn’t know about limericks, so she enjoyed reading a new form of poetry.
