Wonderful Wensley Blog!

Welcome to our week in Wensley!

It has been a wonderful week here in Wensley Class.  The children amazed me once again with their kindness and care when they went to visit our Reception children and introduced them to our Maths computer programme called Numbots.  They showed Reception how to log in to the programme and helped them to play a few games to get them started.  They loved it!  Anna said, "I loved making friends with the younger children and seeing how good they were at Maths!"  Grace said, "I had so much fun and Reception were so excited to see us, they didn't want us to leave."  It was a lovely way to celebrate Number Day!

We have been very busy writing our new adventures for Varjak Paw in English. I have been delighted with the reliance shown by the class when they have had to produce a longer piece of writing and put all the elements that we have been learning together.  I am so excited to read them all over half-term!

In Maths, we have been looking at co-ordinates and playing Billy Bug to help us to remember that it is the x-axis first followed by the y-axis.  The children grasped the concept quickly and had fun in the process.

Five children from Wensley class were chosen, along with other children from around the school, to represent Holy Trinity at a Ro-Icket (a cross between rounders and cricket) tournament at Outwood Academy. I am very pleased to report that they all showed great sportsmanship, teamwork and skill. Well done to all that attended and congratulations on being through to the next stage of the tournament! We are very proud of you all!
