Spa Class Blog

Welcome to our Spa Class blog!
In English we continued reading the story of ‘The Train Ride’. This week we focused on things that we might see at the seaside We also thought about the rhythm of the story and how it sounds like a train on the tracks. We played percussion in the rhythm and even made our own shakers using empty bottles and beans!
In Maths we have looked at 3D shapes, particularly cuboids, cubes, cylinders and spheres. We thought carefully about their properties and used them to make bridges (not the spheres!).
In Phonics we have been singing the nursery rhyme ‘The Wheels on the Bus.’ We are all able to sing the song fast, slowly, loudly and quietly. We also identified rhyming words and tapped the syllables in words. We listened for the ‘ch’ initial sound in words and could sort picture cards into words that started with, or contained the ‘ch’ sound and words that started with a different sound. We have also been practising our oral blending of words.
In DT we made trains from boxes and bottle tops. We painted them in bright colours so they will look smart on the track!
In Learning Means the World we began our topic of ‘Come Fly With Me’ by thinking about our holidays. We have a suitcase full of holiday items such as sun cream, sunglasses, sun hats, flip-flops, goggles and swimming shorts. We also have a picnic basket and pretend ice lollies. Yum!
