We are really excited to share what happened during our visit to Ripon Cathedral on Tuesday 24th June.
On arrival, we met children from lots of different schools. We were the biggest school there!
For our first activity, we listened to the Bible story, 'Crossing of the Red Sea'. We used paint and straws to create our own ocean scene. We had to blow into the straws to move the paint around the plate, creating waves.
We then went on a tour around the Cathedral, and found a range of symbols such as a mermaid, eagle, whale and many more!
After the break we listened to the Calming of the Storm and created our own noises using a range of instruments.
In the afternoon, we created our own sea or land creatures to symbolise that God is the highest in sky and also the lowest in the sea, God is everywhere. Below are some examples of our creatures.
Emily created a sea creature using a foil container, fabric and lollipop sticks.
James created a sea creature with Mrs Poole. They used a plastic bottle, string, googly eyes and some fabric.
Nancy created a dove. She used a cardboard tube for the body, a lollipop stick for the wings and some googly eyes.
Every child then put their creations together to form a huge piece of artwork and this was the final result!
