Skell Class Blog

Welcome to the Skell Class blog!

In English we continued to read the story ‘The Ugly Vegetables,’ and looked at information about China, which was linked with our Learning Means the World this week.

We have written postcards from a trip to China and found out about the Terracotta Army, Kung Foo, the Gobi Desert and the Yangtze river.

In Maths we have been making numbers with 5 and a bit. We have used the stem sentence ‘ ___is made of 5 and ___ , and  5 needs___ to make ___. We have used counters and rekenreks to help us.

In Phonics we have been writing tricky words and super-long sentences! We have continued to read longer words, such as carpark and shimmer.

This week in provision we have been writing postcards, making number block doubles and writing number sentences, painting pictures of Chinese landmarks, such as the Summer Palace and the Lama Temple.

We have built Chinese landmarks in the construction area and have created our own junk models in the making area.
