Nidd News!

It has been a very busy week of learning in Nidd.
In English, we have started our text, 'Paddington and the Marmalade Maze'. We have been learning about different ways of writing speech. We began by writing some speech bubbles for the characters in the book. We then put that speech into sentences using inverted commas. Finally, we improved our sentences by editing then to include alternative words for 'said'.
Our focus in Maths has been place value, finding ways to represent and partition numbers up to 1,000.
As our Learning Means the World unit is all about print. We found out about how Johannes Gutenberg invented the first moveable type printing press and how this led to the first English language bibles being printed in the 1500s
On Wednesday we started our swimming lessons at the Jack Laugher Leisure Centre. All the children gave their very best efforts in their assessment lesson and we cannot wait to watch them progress over the coming weeks.
