Autumn Term Adventures!

It’s been another fantastic week in Litton Class! Here's a glimpse into what we’ve been up to.

Cracking Contraptions!

We've started our writing journey this term with a bang, inspired by the one and only Wallace and Gromit! Using their hilarious Haynes Manual 'Cracking Contraptions', we've been learning all about how to write brilliant explanation texts. Our job has been to explain how two of their most wacky inventions actually work: The Bully Proof Vest and The Shopper. We’ve had a lot of fun exploring the texts in the book to use as models for our own writing over the coming weeks.

 Maths

In maths, we’ve been tackling some really big numbers. We're now experts on place value up to a whopping ten million! That's a 1 followed by seven zeros! We’ve been practising how to read, write, and order these massive numbers, as well as finding out the value of each digit. Remember, understanding place value is a key building block for all the other maths we'll be doing this year.

A World of Bright Ideas: The Sound of Invention!

As part of our topic, 'A World of Bright Ideas', we've been delving into the fascinating history of musical instruments. We researched and chose an instrument that we found interesting, and then designed our own information page all about its invention. From the humble piano to the electric guitar and the ancient drum, we've learned how humans have been making music for centuries. The information pages you have created are beautifully designed and packed with interesting facts.

Well done Litton Class
