Wharfe Blog Post

Hello and welcome to the Wharfe Class blog!
What a brilliant week we've had in Wharfe Class. The school grounds were bursting with colour and laughter as we all took part in the much-anticipated colour run. The children all did so well and had an amazing time, getting covered in bright colours from head to toe. It was a fantastic way to finish off a brilliant week. Jasmine said, ‘I really enjoyed running round with the whole school getting lots of paint thrown at me!’
A Cracking English Topic
Our English lessons have been a cracking success, thanks to our topic on Wallace and Gromit's Cracking Contraptions. We've had a great time exploring the crazy inventions and have been focusing on how we can use descriptive language to write our own. We've been looking closely at noun phrases and the effective use of adjectives to create vivid descriptions, such as 'the shiny, metallic, multi-purpose spoon' or 'the noisy, rusty, fast-spinning machine.' Ted said, ‘I have really enjoyed learning about the wacky and wonderful inventions. I also loved doing a Dragon’s Den pitch for my Bully Proof Vest.’
Mastering Maths
In Maths, we've been tackling some tricky but rewarding topics. We've been getting to grips with rounding to the nearest 10, 100, and 1000. It's a skill that requires a lot of concentration and practice, and everyone has worked incredibly hard. We have also been practising adding and subtracting large numbers. We've been using column methods to make sure our calculations are super accurate.
A World of Bright Ideas
Our Learning Means the World topic, 'A World of Bright Ideas,' has been a real hit. We've been on a fascinating journey through the history of musical instruments. We've discovered how different instruments have evolved over time and have even been putting them on a timeline. It's been so interesting to see how ancient instruments compare to the modern ones we know today.
Religious Education
In RE, we have been exploring the big question of what the Kingdom of God is. We've been discussing what this concept means to different people and what it means to us as individuals. It's been a great opportunity for the children to share their thoughts and learn from one another.
It's been a busy and productive time for all of Wharfe Class. We hope you've enjoyed reading about our adventures. We can't wait to see what next week brings.
