Super Spa Class Blog!

Welcome to the Spa Class Blog.
This week in Spa Class was all about Autumn!
In English we read ‘We're Going on a Leaf Hunt’ and our word of the week was "swooshing". We read the book together and the children joined in with the repetitions and actions. We discussed what autumn meant to us. Rosie said Autumn was when "wind blows the leaves off the tree" and Emily said it was "cold coat" weather! We also worked together as a group to write an autumn poem which is now up for us to read in class. This week Hayden and Rosie both brought books in about some superhero sharks, as well as some unicorns – thank you for sharing!
This week in Phonics we sang A Sailor Went to Sea. The children learnt all the actions and enjoyed singing it.
For Maths we learnt about the rainbow! We had a rainbow maths table, made a giant rainbow in provision and sang "I can sing a rainbow". The children enjoyed naming all the colours. We also used some of our colourful painted squares and turned them into a big Elmer for our cloakroom!
In RE we learnt about Harvest Festival. We discussed why we celebrate Harvest Festival and the act of sharing and donating food. Robyn said that it is "nice to share with hungry people" and Noah added that it is "kind to share". The children enjoyed creating a food donation box in our home corner to celebrate.
In Learning Means the World the children explored drawing a picture of a friend. They looked through our clear plastic in provision and then drew their friend on the other side – they did a brilliant job! We have also been doing a lot of autumn activities this week, such as going on a nature walk in outdoor provision time, colouring autumn leaves, and making autumn trees. For our Spa Bear circle time this week we explored autumn treasures. We passed around a sweet chestnut to see what it would feel like. Sophie thought the inside was "fluffy" and Daisy said it was "soft", Theo noticed that it had "seeds inside to grow". Hayden and Zaid said the outside felt "pricky" and "spiky". Jacob said it looked "like a hedgehog so we must be very careful!". Everyone worked really hard with turn taking and listening to their friends – Spa Bear thought all the children did a fantastic job!
