Swale News

What a fantastic week it’s been in Year 4!

The children have been busy learning, creating, and having lots of fun along the way.

English
In English, we’ve been reading The Lost Happy Endings. The children have been exploring how authors use expanded noun phrases to bring their writing to life. Bethany said she really enjoyed creating a list of adjectives to describe the forest and build a particular mood, we were so impressed with everyone’s imaginative ideas!

PE
This week’s PE session with Mr Banks focussed on Tag Rugby. The children showed great teamwork and energy throughout. Noah said he really enjoyed the games and practising his passing skills.

Maths
In maths, we started our new unit on 'Addition'. The class have been using place value charts to help them understand exchanging numbers. Tiana said she enjoyed using the place value table to help her with her addition — great work!

Learning Means the World
Our Learning Means the World curriculum has had a strong science focus this week. The children have been experimenting with simple circuits, exploring how to use switches to control the flow of electricity.

In music, we’ve been learning about tempo and how the speed of a song can change its mood. Charlotte said she loved creating a playlist of songs with different tempos to reflect different emotions.

It’s been wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and creativity in everything the children have done this week. We’re already looking forward to another great week ahead in Year 4!
