Skell Class Blog

Welcome to our super Skell Class blog!
In English we have continued to read the story ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?’ We have used this story to create our version of the story. We used ‘Skell Class, Skell Class, what do you see?’ We went for a walk around the school and added things we saw to the story, such as a rainbow, a clock and children doing P.E. We have made vehicle books and farm books following the same format. The children have worked very hard at listening for the sounds in words and writing them.
In Maths we have been looking at comparisons. We compared groups of objects using the language of more and fewer and the stem sentence, ‘Dog has more than Bear,’ and ‘Bear has fewer than Dog.’
In Phonics we have looked at the graphemes ck, e, u, r. We identified the initial sounds in words, identified the grapheme and said the phoneme. We also tried very hard to write the graphemes! Our new tricky word to read is ‘I.’ We have sounded out and blended words such as pot, mum, duck and red. We have played blending games such as ‘ Can you do the actions – n-o-d your head.’
In Learning Means the World we have been thinking about similarities and differences between ourselves and others, we have played matching games and put our friends into different groups. Children wearing trousers or dresses, children with red tops or white tops and different hair colours.
In RE we have thought about how Christians believe that God is special. We read the story ‘the precious Pearl,’ and compared God’s name to being precious like the pearl. Tommy suggested precious things were expensive, like the pearl.
In provision we have been making pompom rainbows using tweezers, using scissors and cutting in a straight line. Making shades of green, making colour books, animal books and vehicle books. We have also spent time making collage funny faces and sorting objects into groups of more and fewer.
