Fantastic Art!

The class have been exploring texture with Mrs Needham every Wednesday, which has led to some fantastic Moon art in their sketchbooks. For this week and next week, they are applying what they have learned to create their own planets in pairs. This week they have been using PVA to papier-mache spherical lampshades. Children and staff alike can't wait to see the finished products!

In Maths, we have moved onto our Multiplication and Division module. We have begun by exploring multiples. We were wowed to find out that if you add up the digit value of any multiple of 3, it gives you another multiple of 3. For example: 1218, 1+2+1+8=12, which is also a multiple of 3.

In English, we have been revising speech grammar, and in particular looking at using it to show character, and move the action on. We have learned how to use a 'speech sandwich' to interperse speech and action in a sophisticated way. Holly shared, "I LOVED shared writing using the speech sandwich. It was amazing and brilliant!"

In Learning Means The World, Ted has been really engaged in learning about the Space Race, and learning about the Cold War. The class were surprised to find out the Soviet Union seemed to be leading the Space Race for so long, before Apollo 11 took Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins to the moon. There were cheers!

Have a super weekend!
