Lovely Laver News
It's been another fantastic week of learning and discovery in Laver Class! We've been busy writing stories, exploring numbers, getting creative with clay, and learning all about our feathered friends.
We are so incredibly proud of the whole class for completing their independent write this week! Our task was to write our own original stories, which we titled 'How Do I Feel?'
The children worked their socks off to remember all the ingredients for a super sentence. We focused on using capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops correctly.
In Maths, we’ve been busy exploring the world of numbers! We focused on ordering numbers and using a number line to help us see where different numbers belong. This skill is super important, and we can’t wait to put it to use in our next unit: addition and subtraction!
We also continued to strengthen our number sense in Mastering Number. We worked on comparing numbers (knowing which number is bigger or smaller) and honing our subitising skills—that's the brilliant trick of knowing how many objects there are without having to count them all!
We finally finished off our beautiful pinch pots this week! The children added the perfect finishing touch by decorating them with sparkly gems. They look absolutely stunning and everyone is so excited to come and share these at home very soon!
In our Learning About the World lessons, we’ve been exploring nature and focusing on birds. We’ve learned all about the key characteristics that make a bird a bird—from their feathers and beaks to their ability to lay eggs.
In provision, we enjoyed our fine motor skills activity. We had to roll the conker along the paper, making a mark as we did it!
