Wensley Class Blog

Welcome Back!

It's been great to have Wonderful Wensley back in class this week. In English, we have started exploring our new text: Ripley's Mighty Machines. For our Elicitation Task, we enjoyed writing brief information texts about Wallace and Gromit's 'Snoozatron'. We definitely have some budding inventors in the class who were taking note!

In Maths, the class have made fantastic progress in understanding multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, and 1000. Showing a real understanding of place value, a wonderful attitude to learning was evident across the whole class. Indeed, Lily was so proud of her work, she took it to show her old teacher!

We also enjoyed researching and designing portable timepieces for a spaceman in D&T. Atomic clocks were very popular, until we discovered they can be the size of a fridge! In Science, the class worked in small groups to design their own experiments on the best insulator for a cup of warm water. It was fascinating to see how they applied their knowledge of existing materials to make their predictions. We look forward to conducting the experiments themselves in the coming weeks.

Finally, we are starting our new Learning Means The World Topic: You're Not Invited. It has a History focus, and we will explore the reasons and impacts of Roman invasions. I'm sure the class will enjoy it as much as Mission Control!
