Wensley Class Blog

As part of our new Learning Means The World topic, 'You're Not Invited', the children have been researching, designing, and making simple prototypes for a sleeping place for a soldier. They first analysed how practical and comfortable existing designs were. The four-poster bed certainly seemed comfortable, but not very practical!

In English, the class used videos and text resources to research the Ballista, an ancient Greek and Roman weapon that was used in the invasion of Britain. We will be working on sentence structure, using relative clauses and complex sentences, over the next few days, before bringing them together to write some informative and engaging non-fiction texts!

In Maths, the children have been amazing with their enjoyment of using their times tables knowledge to find equivalent unit and non-unit fractions. There have been many 'silent cheers' for successful answers!

On Times Tables Rockstars, we have also launched a Battle of the Bands against Ribble Class, running until next Friday—good luck, Wensley! Thank you to those who have already supported us in the competition!

In PE, many of the class have really enjoyed exploring Bhangra Bounces and other building blocks of Bollywood dancing. I've been really impressed by the growing confidence in members of the class to try things even if they feel a little uncomfortable to begin with—well done, everybody!

In Art, the children have been absolutely loving adding colour, gradients and texture to their planets with Mrs Needham. They are already looking brilliant!

Gosh, finally, what a busy end to the week, with some super poetry being written on Michael Rosen Day on Thursday!

Have a lovely weekend!
