The Ribble Report

Poetry Professionals and DT Delights!

It has been such a wonderful week in Ribble. We have been incredibly busy, as ever!

In maths, we have been learning all things fractions. We began by looking at unit fractions and non-unit fractions and then progressed to find equivalent fractions of these. We practised using multiple different methods to increase our fluency and help us solve problems.

A clear highlight of our week so far has got to be the Design Technology lessons that we have had. We started by creating a design idea for a practical yet comfortable bed for a solider. To help us perfect this, we evaluated existing products before drawing our own design and annotating it. After that, the children were given a range of material that they could use to create their design. Some of theses were truly inventive and really impressed me. Have a look at some of the pictures we have attached below!

It was an absolute pleasure to have a day dedicated to poetry on Thursday too. The smiles on children's faces throughout the whole day was extraordinary. From creating their own 'Funny Food' poems to watching Michael Rosen live on screen, the children had a blast!

It is also important to mention that we have started a battle of the bands between Ribble and Wensley! Remember our times tables are SO important and will help us when we do fractions – keep it up!
