Rich Learning with the Romans
Christmas Party: Our Year 5 Christmas party will be on Wednesday, 17th December, in the morning. Please keep checking the school's weekly newsletter for other key dates in the exciting but busy run-up to Christmas!
Wensley has really enjoyed having some rich conversations and sharpening their historical enquiry skills in their most recent history lessons! We spent the majority of one lesson closely exploring pictures of historical artefacts, hunting for clues about their purpose. Josh shared that 'they showed us how organised and powerful the Romans were.' Noticing little language links, such as a Centurion was in charge of approximately 100 men, and that century means 100 years, opened up a great conversation about Latin and the origins of English!
Linking again to our learning about Romans, in English the children have begun to prepare their A3 information posters about ballistas. We look forward to displaying their finished masterpieces in class next week! The children are deciding their own layout to create eye-catching and engaging designs.
In Maths, we have been comparing and ordering fractions, building upon and applying our understanding of how to find equivalent fractions to help us.
In PE, we have completed the Bollywood Dancing part of our dance unit. A very different style of dancing is coming next week: Line Dancing!
In Art, their wonderful planets have been completed and are also going to go on display. The children are rightly proud of their fantastic work!
