👋 Wharfe Class Weekly Update: Super Powers, Story Settings, and Star Dividers!

Hi everyone!

It’s been another super busy and brilliant week here in Wharfe Class. We've been using our Power for Good, tackling some seriously tricky maths, and writing descriptions that would make mythical monsters proud!

🌟 Project: Power for Good!

This week, for anti-bullying week, we became the leaders of the whole school! We were so proud to share our work on the 'Power for Good' campaign with the younger classes.

  • We led sessions all around the school, showing the other children what it means to be kind, respectful, and a good friend.
  • We created an awesome presentation, ran a fun quiz, and got everyone involved in some great activities.

It was fantastic to see all of our hard work pay off, and we hope the whole school learned how important it is to use their voices and actions for good. Well done, Wharfe Class – you truly are role models!

🔢 Maths Masterclass: Long Division!

We know that Year 6 maths can sometimes feel like climbing a mountain, and the biggest peak is usually long division!

We are so incredibly pleased with how everyone has tackled this challenging topic. You didn't give up, you kept practising those steps, and you are now conquering those big numbers like maths superheroes! Keep up the brilliant effort and concentration, everyone. You're doing a great job becoming long division legends!

✍️ Literacy Land: Mythical Monsters!

If you want to read a scary, exciting, or magical story, you need fantastic setting descriptions and creatures. That's exactly what we've been writing!

We have created some truly amazing descriptions for our mythical creatures and their spooky settings. We focused especially on using prepositions to make our scenes come alive. Remember how these little words tell us where things are?

Example: Instead of saying, "The giant stood," we wrote, "The towering beast stood behind the crooked tree, its shadow stretching across the swamp."

Have a look at Felicity’s amazing description!

📚 What's Next? Our Library Trip!

We are all really looking forward to getting out of the classroom next week!

We have our exciting trip to the local library on Tuesday. It’s the perfect chance to:

  • Find new and interesting books to read.
  • Learn how the library works.
  • Get inspired for our next writing project!

Remember to bring a coat, wear comfy shoes, and be ready to explore the wonderful world of books!

That's all for this week! Have a great weekend, and see you all on Monday!
