Litton Class Blog

Hello and welcome to this week's update from Litton Class! The weeks are flying by as we gear up for the festive season, but that hasn't stopped Year 6 from working incredibly hard!
✍️ Literacy Corner: Magnificent Merlin
This week in English, we embarked on a magical journey as we planned and started writing our Merlin stories! The children demonstrated fantastic organizational skills by meticulously mapping out their narrative structure:
- Opening (Setting the scene)
- Problem (The main challenge)
- Climax (The peak of the action)
- Resolution (How the problem is solved)
- Ending (Tying up the story)
They have started their first drafts beautifully, showing great promise for some truly captivating tales. We are so excited to read their finished masterpieces next week!
➕ Maths Mastery: Order of Operations
In Maths, we tackled the crucial concept of the order of operations. The children have been learning how to correctly approach equations involving multiple steps, ensuring they arrive at the correct answer every time. This skill is vital for success in upper primary and secondary maths!
💡 Science & Spanish Snapshots
- Science: Our exploration of light and shadows continued. We are developing a better understanding of how shadows are formed and how their size and shape can change depending on the light source and object.
- Spanish: We expanded our vocabulary by looking at a range of different professions. Some examples we learned include:
- El/La maestro/a (The teacher)
- El/La doctor/a (The doctor)
- El/La policía (The police officer)
- El/La bombero/a (The firefighter)
- El/La cocinero/a (The chef)
🙏 RE Reflection: The Modern Messiah
RE sparked some fascinating and deep discussions this week as we pondered: What would a modern-day Messiah do and say? The children came up with lots of thoughtful ideas, ranging from addressing climate change and promoting global peace to using social media for positive messages and championing equality. It was wonderful to see such mature and insightful thinking!
🎄 A Touch of Festive Fun!
The school is now buzzing with Christmas cheer! The Christmas trees are up, we've been singing festive songs in the hall, and there is great excitement surrounding the upcoming Elf Day! It really is beginning to feel like Christmas!
🗓️ A Date for your Diary
We look forward to welcoming you to Litton Class next Friday afternoon for our Christmas Craft Afternoon! We hope to see you there for some creative festive fun.
