Litton Class Blog

Hello and welcome to this week’s Litton Class blog! The Christmas spirit has definitely landed in Year 6, and we are loving every minute of it!
🌟 Festive Fun and Teamwork
Last Friday was one of the most exciting days of the school year: Elf Day! We were so proud of how the Litton Class children stepped up to help organise and run the activities. They were absolutely excellent at getting everyone across the school involved and ensuring every child had a fun, festive time. Thank you for being such great role models, Year 6!
On Monday, we were treated to a viewing of the Year 3 and Year 4 Dress Rehearsal of their Nativity. It was truly fabulous, and we thought they all did so well! It was lovely to see the younger children perform.
We've also been busy making our classroom sparkle! Putting up the decorations has been a lot of fun, and the main school Christmas tree in the hall looks absolutely beautiful – it really makes the school feel ready for the holidays.
📚 Super Storytelling and Serious Maths
In English, the children have completed their amazing Merlin stories! They have been working so hard on these, and the final results are absolutely fabulous. We've had a wonderful time reading them.
This week in Maths, we've tackled a challenging but important topic: Fractions. We have been focusing on comparing and ordering fractions, learning how to use both a common denominator or a common numerator and working out when each method is the most efficient choice. Year 6 has really grasped these key skills!
🌍 LMTW: Exploring Complex Topics
In our 'Learning More Than Words' (LMTW) sessions, we have explored the complex terms of extremism and radicalisation. We have looked at both of these concepts in relation to our learning about the wars of the world. The children approached this sensitive topic with maturity and thoughtful discussion.
The children have also been creating some super fact files on some important world leaders who were in power during WWII. They presented these beautifully to the class, sharing lots of fascinating information.
🗓️ Important Dates for Your Diary!
Don't forget the fun activities we have coming up:
- Christmas Craft Afternoon: This Friday, December 12th, at 2:30 pm. All are very welcome to join us in the classroom to do some festive crafting!
