Happy Christmas from Nidd!

A wonderful final week!

Monday saw Nidd class dressed up and ready to celebrate as we had our Christmas party. The hall was filled with music, laughter, and some very impressive dance moves. It was wonderful to see everyone celebrating together and getting into the festive spirit. Lucas W reported, "We had to pass the parcel around the guess what was inside and we did a little disco."

We have come to the end of our Learning Means the World unit of 'Athens v Sparta' we found out about some Greek Gods and Goddesses before choosing our favourites to write about.  Most importantly, we looked at the legacy of the Ancient Greeks, discovering and discussing how their ideas on government, sports, and architecture still influence our lives today.

In our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) lesson, we put our resilience to the test. The mission? To build a table, using only a sheet of A4 paper, that was strong enough to hold a glue stick. Anna said, "You needed a lot of teamwork and the table needed to be really sturdy." Lucas B said, "It was hard but I kept on trying." There were a few collapsed towers and "back to the drawing board" moments, but, inspired by the famous story of Robert the Bruce, we showed incredible perseverance and learned that mistakes are just stepping stones to success!

In Maths, we have been sharpening our multiplication and division skills. Our focus this week was multiplying and dividing by 4. We used a range of strategies, including 'rolling numbers' and repeated addition to explore the four times table and its corresponding division facts. Keaton told us, "I was using the rolling numbers for the trickier questions and it made it quite a bit easier."

What an end to a wonderful first term in Year 3. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in January for even more exciting learning.

Happy Christmas!
