Wensley Class Blog

Happy New Year!
It’s been great having the class back this week and cracking on with our next areas of learning.
In English, we have begun to look at Beowulf by Charles Keeping. The children wrote some very exciting ‘monster’ stories of their own to begin the topic. In Guided Reading, we are reading Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly, which has been a great recap of our previous learning about the Space Race, as well as exploring themes of racism and sexism.
In maths, we have returned to multiplication and division, and are moving towards multiplying using two-digit numbers.
In Learning Means The World, we have a geography and history focus. Our unit, ‘Cosmopolitan’, explores the geography of New York City and Sydney, with a focus on migration. This week we really enjoyed exploring atlases and then learnt about the remarkable history of Ellis Island in New York.
Have a great weekend!
