Happy New Year!

It’s been great welcoming the children back to school and hearing all about what they got up to over the Christmas holidays.

In English, we’ve started a new unit on persuasive writing, inspired by The Day the Crayons Quit by Oliver Jeffers. We’ve been exploring the story and creating text maps to help us get to know each of the letters written to Duncan by the crayons.

In Maths, we’ve moved on to the second part of our Multiplication and Division topic. This week, the children have been focusing on using factors and factor pairs to solve multiplication problems mentally.

Our new Guided Reading text is The Hodgeheg by Dick King-Smith. We’ve used the story to reinforce the importance of the Green Cross Code, which plays a key role in the book.

In Learning Means the World, our new topic is Cry Freedom. This unit looks at both historical and modern-day slavery and encourages thoughtful discussion and investigation.

In PE, the class have begun a netball unit and have really enjoyed building their confidence as they learn new skills.

Please note that PE days have changed to Monday and Wednesday.

Children should come in suitable footwear, with long hair tied back and no earrings. We will also be doing gymnastics, which will take place in bare feet.
