Ouse News!

It has been another action-packed week in Year 2!
English
We have been learning how to use possessive apostrophes. We practised showing that something belongs to someone by adding an 's to their name.
Maths
We have been busy shopkeepers! Our focus has been on recognising coins and choosing the correct ones to pay for different amounts.

Science
We have been exploring the world of light. We have been identifying the different sources of light and sorting them into two categories: natural and artificial.
- Natural light sources - the sun, stars and lightning.
- Artificial light sources - lightbulbs, torches, street lights and computer screens.
Learning Means the World
Our unit has introduced us to some inspiring people. This week, we looked at famous people who changed the world.
- Michael Jordan - we learned about his perseverance and how he became one of the greatest athletes of all time.
- Thomas Edison - we explored his inventions, especially the first electric lightbulb, and how he never gave up even when things were difficult.
Handwriting
We have focused on our pencil grip to ensure everyone is holding their pencil comfortably and with control. We have also been practising the correct formation of individual letters, making sure we start and finish our letters in the right place.
NumBots
We were excited to launch NumBots on Friday. The children have already had a go in class and are very excited to start building their own robots! Each child has a pack that contains their login details.
