Skell Class Blog

Welcome to the Skell Class blog!

In English, we continued to read the story ‘How to Catch a Star.’ We made our own books and thought about different ways to catch a star. Etta suggested riding on a flying unicorn. We thought about if the star was a star fish what other creatures we might find washed up on the beach, such as a fish, an octopus and a squid. We have looked at images from the Hubble telescope and discussed the different things we could see in space.

In Maths, we have been counting the number blocks and matching them to the correct numeral. We looked at how the number blocks are like stairs, we made our own number blocks and ordered them. We discussed how each block is one more than one before. We have also looked at length and sorted objects into long and short.

In Phonics, we have recapped digraphs oo, oo, ar and or. We have read words such as moon, book, dark and horn. We have read and written the tricky words was, you, they.

In Learning Means the World we have looked at tropical fish and discussed how they live in warmer water. We noticed that lots of tropical fish have stripes. We have created our own stripy fish paintings and made thin playdough stripes to decorate fish. We also looked at ‘The Rainbow Fish’ story and discussed sharing with others.

We have also enjoyed parachute games and moving our bodies more every day. We had some super speedy runners when we ran around the track on the field!
