Esk News

Welcome to the Esk class blog.
This week we have been learning about the ancient city of Benin as part of our Learning Means the World – Come Fly with Me topic. We discovered how Benin became a great city and that many people who lived there were members of guilds related to their skills, such as art, sculpture, doctors and even acrobats. Lilly has learnt that they thought their King was actually a god. Elsie really liked the song we listened to about Benin as it was funny.
In Art, we have begun to build papier-mâché lion masks. Poppy has enjoyed making the masks so far, as she liked sticking and glueing the paper on. Wren liked this lesson because it was messy!
In English, we are learning to improve our writing by using different sentence types. We are learning the differences between simple, compound and complex sentences and why we use them in our writing.
We enjoyed getting back in the swimming pool in our weekly swimming session. Finn likes it because he gets taught by his out-of-school swimming teacher! Fenn has enjoyed using different strokes in the deep end.
