This week we have been looking at some funky fish!

In English we read “Billy’s Bucket” – our words of the week were “imagination” and “discover”. We talked about what the words meant and what we enjoyed imagining and discovering. Jacob said he liked “discovering bugs in the garden” and Jaxon said he liked to imagine “stories at school”. We looked at all the creatures which lived in Billy’s Bucket, watched some videos about sea anemones, and recreated Billy’s Bucket in our water tray! Later in the week we designed our own sea creatures based on what we saw in the book. Jacob said that his creature was a "crab" and it "goes up and down", Daisy created "A mermaid in her house. She has flipper flappers to swim." and Sheeth drew an underwater scene, adding it had "Lots of fish and treasure!". This week we shared books about princess parties, wiggly tadpoles and all about oceans, thank you for bringing books in to share!

In Phonics we learnt the phoneme ‘g’ for grapes and glue! Our nursery rhyme was Round and Round the Garden; we enjoyed joining in with the actions, and the children had fun acting the rhyme out in provision! On this week’s visit with Bertha the Bus, we saw a goat!

We continued learning all about the number three in Maths. We prepared a party for the three little pigs, making sure that we had enough food for the three pigs – Theo brought three forks, Rosie added three pieces of fruit and Emily added three plates. Later in the week we also learnt about triangles. We explored why “Three” liked a triangle, Daisy explained that “Three likes triangles because a triangle has three sides!”. The children have also continued their number three number hunt, helping each other to find some numbers which have been hidden in some tricky places.

In RE we started learning about Salvation and discussing what salvation means to Christians. We recreated the Big Frieze for Salvation, we enjoyed looking in detail at the picture and acting it out. Jaxon saw "so many houses", Marwa saw "a paintbrush" and Hayden saw "rainbow stuff in the sky".

This week’s Learning Means the World was all about Rainbow Fish. We worked together to make a huge rainbow fish. We explored colour mixing to create colourful scales for our big fish, and then used our fine motor skills to sprinkle glitter to make shiny scales! In our Curiosity Cube this week we had a scale left behind from a magical fish! We passed it around and discussed what it felt like. Sophie said “It is very smooth”, Saimoni added “It is blue” and Hayden thought “fish live in the sea, maybe it is a scale”. Spa Bear has been really impressed with how everyone is trying really hard with listening to each other.

Spa Class have also enjoyed starting our morning run around the Trinity Circuit. This not only uses up morning wiggles, but also helps to develop fine and gross motor skills! Well done to everyone in Spa Class for getting stuck in, we have some very speedy children!
