The Ribble Report

What a busy and brilliant week we have had in Year 5!
We have been working incredibly hard on our multiplication, mastering multi-digit methods and making sure our times tables are faster than ever! But the real excitement started this week as we moved onto division.
In English, our journey through the Anglo-Saxon world continues! We have been reading deeper into Beowulf and focused on lots of key skills along the way. We have been using thesaurus' and dictionaries to build our vocabulary, understanding the purpose of paragraphs and expressing our own opinions on the text.
The photo above shows three children in Ribble creating a freeze to show one of the sections of Annie Moore's story. Annie Moore was the very first immigrant to be processed and the newly opened Ellis Island in New York in 1892.
To finish our week on Friday, we took a musical trip around the globe! We explored and sang national anthems from lots of different countries. It was a wonderful way to celebrate different cultures and hear some truly powerful melodies.
