What a busy and exciting week we have had in Year 4!

English

In English, we completed our persuasive letters inspired by The Day the Crayons Quit. The children worked hard to write convincing arguments from an objects point of view, using excellent persuasive language and thoughtful ideas.

We also introduced our new text, Marvin and Milo, which links to our upcoming unit on instructional writing. The class explored patterns, puzzles, likes and dislikes, and began thinking about how instructions need to be clear and precise. Bethany said she loves the new topic because she likes that the experiments go right and wrong!

Maths

This week, we really put our resilience to the test in Maths Master! The children practised multiplying 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers using the formal written method. It was challenging, but everyone showed great determination and focus. Noah said Maths challenged him this week. Tiana and Annalise were proud of how everyone persevered.

RE

In RE, we have been learning how the three foundations are put into action through charity work. We focused on Langar Aid, a charity that provides meals for those who cannot afford them. The children reflected thoughtfully on how helping others is an important part of faith and community. Charlotte found it interesting learning about the charity.

PE

In PE, we continued improving our gymnastics skills. The children worked with balances and equipment to create their own games, including rules and challenges for others to follow. We also did netball with sporting influence and Emily said she enjoyed perfecting her chest pass.

Guided Reading

In Guided Reading, we continued reading The Hodgeheg. We have been developing our retrieval skills by answering questions using evidence from the text and discussing key details.

Parent Event

We also had a fantastic parents’ event centred around Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS). The children were proud to show off their multiplication skills and share their progress with their families.

Well done Year 4 for another brilliant week of learning!
