English

We successfully concluded our persuasive letters inspired by The Day the Crayons Quit. After discovering why some crayons were so disgruntled, the children composed impressive letters packed with powerful opinions and convincing arguments.

We also introduced our brand-new text: Marvin and Milo! This week, we investigated puzzles and preferences, while beginning our journey into instructional writing by focusing on how to explain processes with absolute clarity.

Darcie spotted some patterns in the writing and asked "Why does Marvin always have his mouth open?!"

All the class enjoyed the cheeky nature of the characters and how they tried to persuade you to do these experiments at home.

Maths

Maths provided a true test of perseverance! We tackled the challenge of multiplying 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers using formal written methods. Although the calculations were demanding, the children demonstrated exceptional grit and determination to master the method.

We have now started on division using partitioning!

Guided Reading

Our journey through The Hodgeheg continues! The children have been refining their retrieval skills, locating specific evidence within the text to support and justify their answers. We have read up to Chapter 3 and Sebastian found it exceptionally funny as Max would get all his words jumbled up.

RE

In RE, we examined how the three foundations are transformed into action by supporting those in need. We studied the work of Langar Aid, a charity dedicated to providing meals for the hungry. This sparked  discussions regarding the importance of generosity and empathy. We discussed how different disasters might cause people to need Langar Aid and how the cost of living has impacted so many people.

PE

During PE, we advanced our gymnastics abilities. The class demonstrated steady balances, handled equipment with care, and collaborated to invent original games with clear rules—showing fantastic teamwork!

TTRS Parent Event

A major highlight was our Times Table Rock Stars parent event! It was fantastic to see the children showcase their progress, and the level of enthusiasm for maths was contagious.
