Esk News

Welcome to our latest Esk news blog.

Science

We have been learning about the different types of teeth animals and humans have. We have learnt about the link between tooth type and diet. We looked at what happens to our food once we have eaten it, learning all about the stages of digestion. Hannah has found learning about the digestive system “fascinating." Ellie enjoyed drawing the different types of teeth.

English

In English, we have been researching and writing about Geckos, Sloths and Toucans. Finding out information about diet, habitat, and appearance has helped us create fact files about each one. Fenn really liked learning about sloths because they are one of his favourite animals. Charlie enjoyed sloths too. He hadn’t realised they were as big as they are.

Maths

We are coming to the end of the unit of work on multiplication and division and will be moving on to Length and Perimeter next. However, that isn’t the end of our times-tables learning. We are going to be using TT Rockstars in lessons to help learn and increase fluency in times-tables. Using TT Rockstars is an excellent way for your children to become proficient in times-tables which has a positive effect on all their maths learning for the rest of their lives. The children all have log-in details in the reading records. We would love to see that the children are accessing this at home. Honor really enjoys TT Rockstars and says it is a lot of fun.

Art

Our lion masks have been finished with manes now attached to finish them off, and they look stunning. Jenny found that attaching the mane was tricky, but she did it, in the end. Ophelia liked painting lions’ faces.
