In English, we are enjoying learning about how information is shared through images and texts as part of our Marvin and Milo topic. This week, we have looked at using time adverbials and imperative verbs in our instruction writing. We blended Science and English and conducted an inflatable balloon experiment in which we caused a balloon to inflate using a chemical reaction, rather than our breath!

In Maths, we have looked at dividing a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number. We have spent time thinking of the most efficient ways to partition numbers and how to calculate remainders. We enjoyed having another set of parents in to class to hear about the Year 4 Multiplication Check and how we can use TTRockstars to support our times tables knowledge.

In RE, we learnt about the Sikh festival, Vaisakhi and the founding of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh. We looked at the different parts of the festival and the symbolism behind them.

In PE, we had Harrogate Football Club teach us some new football skills. We also continued our netball skills and the class showed excellent team work and sportsperson qualities.

In Learning Means the World, we continued our journey through slavery and learnt about Sojourner Truth and how she raised awareness of slavery and her own story. We created a timeline of her life with detailed imagery and information. We also created some artwork depicting slavery and highlighted the importance of stopping child labour.

It has also been national storytelling week, and we have woven this in to our day, telling and recounting stories and enjoying listening to a range of genres.
