Lovely Laver News!

What a busy and brilliant week we’ve had in Year 1! We’ve been "glueing" sentences, comparing numbers, and sharing some very special stories. Here is a look at what we’ve been up to:
To wrap up Storytelling Week, we had some very special visitors! We teamed up with our friends in Year 6 to share our favourite tales. It was wonderful to see the older children reading fabulous stories, and to see the Year 1 children listening so carefully.

In Maths, we’ve been looking closely at numbers all the way up to 20. We practised comparing them to see which numbers are "greater than" and which are "less than." We became brilliant mathematicians and used symbols to show this!
This week, we became grammar builders! We learnt all about the conjunction 'and'. We talked about how it acts like a piece of glue, taking two short sentences and sticking them together to make one long, exciting sentence.
In RE, we explored Christian Weddings. We looked at the different symbols and traditions that happen in a church. Most importantly, we talked about the promises two people make to one another. We spent time thinking about how we can show we care for people—not just with words, but with our actions too. Ida said 'a wedding promises love and friendship'.
