Lovely Laver News!

What a fantastic week we have had! We’ve been writers, mathematicians, and scientists all in one. Here is a look at what we’ve been up to!

✍️ English: Our Very Own 'Bonkers' Stories

This week, we stepped into our roles as authors. Taking inspiration from the book Bonkers about Beetroot, we decided to put our own spin on the story. Instead of the usual setting, we moved our characters to a zoo! We had so much fun imagining the adventures of a Panda and a Lion. The children did a wonderful job with their creative descriptions and storytelling.

🔢 Maths: Solving the Difference

In Maths, we have been working hard on "finding the difference" between two numbers. To help us visualise the numbers, we used:

  • Tens Frames and Counters: These helped us see how many more or fewer objects there were.

  • Number Lines: We practised "jumping" between numbers to find the gap.

🍞 RE: A Visit from Matt

We were very lucky to welcome Matt into our classroom this week to teach us all about Holy Week. It was a special experience for the children to learn about the events leading up to Easter. We even took part in our very own Last Supper, which helped us understand the importance of sharing and friendship in the story.

Learning Means the World

Over the past two weeks we have been exploring renewable energy sources. This week we have been focusing on wind energy. We used small windmills to experiment with to see if we would create any energy. Penny said 'We have created a wind farm, to create lots of energy and electricity!'.

We had a visit from Joe at All Stars Cricket this week. We had lots of fun learning about the rules of cricket and having a go ourselves! If you would like to sign up to All Stars please clink on the link below.
